I’ll start by saying “Outliers: The Story of Success” by Malcolm Gladwell is a fantastic read, a book I really loved. So if you have the time, skip this article and read the actual book instead because I can’t do justice to Gladwell’s writing. You can get yourself a copy at amazon.ca or amazon.com.

I read through this book in a week's time, and for me that’s quick. Usually takes me 1–2 months to get through a whole book. Partially because I procrastinate, and partially because I have a very low attention span so when I do get to reading, I don’t end up doing it for that long. However Malcolm Gladwell’s clever writing touch got me hooked, craving to read chapter after chapter.

As a 24-year-old full-time software engineer for almost 2 years now, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to do next. With respect to both my career and personal growth. And reading through this book gave me a lot to think about. The golden nuggets throughout shed some light on giving direction in where to focus my energy and thoughts. Here are my key takeaways from this book, and hope they are good lessons for you as well:
